Stack Switches |
| Stack switches are commonly used where the rough wiring has already been installed. They allow you to add a needed switch without modifing the existing boxes or plaster rings. This can be a cost saver especially when wall coverings are not easily patched. These devices come in different combinations of single pole and three way switching as well as with single receptacles. Two common applications are in bathrooms where fans and fixtures require separate switching, and in kitchens to control counter top lighting and a garbage disposal. Nonetheless, the wiring must be accessable prior to making the change. Additionally, the NEC requires all receptacles in kitchens and residential bathrooms to be GFCI protected.
